The Science Centre Singapore recently invited Mining Gems to conduct a two-day workshop for its science educators.  

Objectives include:

To provide scientific inquiry (IBL) training for science educators in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics such that they are fully prepared to teach pupils who are from all levels - pre-schoolers (4-6 years old), primary (7-12 years old), secondary (13-16 years old), and post-secondary (17-20 years old).

Goals for the program:

Immerse participants in a workshop experience that models IBL and allows them to explore and envision how IBL would translate into their regular practice as science educators. All participants, at the conclusion of the workshop, will

• understand what scientific inquiry means from the viewpoint of a science educator

• be empowered to become a scientific inquiry facilitator

• engaged to design curriculum for scientific inquiry

• recognize challenges related to scientific inquiry and ways to overcome them
